I know its pretty much impossible to measure when you have the suspension, brakes and everything bolted up on the car.. but if you get around to takin the lower A arms off you can measure them and compare against this..

The stock 87-93 FOX Mustang lower A arm is 13" long as measured from the Centerline of the control arm pivot mounting holes to the CL of the balljoint stud.

The stock 94-04 SN95 lower A arm is 13 3/4" long using the same CL to CL measurement as mentioned above. Just an FYI, 87-88 Thunderbirds (all trim levels) use this same control arm stamping, but with a different balljoint stud for the earlier FOX-type brakes.

I've verified these A-arm measurements myself in side by side comparisons on the garage floor and they are accurate. Also, 3/4" in additional front track width per side doesnt sound like much but trust me, its effect is huge on FOX Mustangs. It really doesnt take much to push the wheels way out, close to the fenders.

OR.. you could measure the K-member width and see if that is where the additional unwanted trackwidth is coming from. I cant remember the stock FOX Mustang K-member width measurements off the top of my head, but I think 29 1/2" wide sounds close, as measured from CL to CL of the front A-arm mounting holes. The steering rack being in the way makes this kind of tricky to measure on the car, but anyways, Ford changed the FOX K-member geometry periodically from year to year, including the trackwidth.

When I do my 5 lug conversion unless I can score some 17" skinnys my wheels will probably be almost touching the fender because I will need to use spacers because of my front brake choice. 15 inch wheels will not clear the brakes I will be using.

I will probably have to see what the Terminator crowd is using for skinnies to get it right.
