Default Ford Ranger electrical question

2003 Ford Ranger, 3.0L non Flex

For some reason it's not starting. The engine isn't cranking, but the electronics are coming on. When you try to start it, instead of the normal clicking you would get if it was low voltage, it's an almost buzzing sound and the lights flicker. I want to say that I think it's the starter, but I'm not positive.

Any ideas as to what it could be?

Check your battery. Almost sounds like mine when the batter went out, was an '03 too. Do your gauges do a weird sweeping thing when you try to turn it over?

I just went over to her house and hit the starter a few times and nothing. It actually was clicking a little, but the sound was coming from almost directly underneath the driver instead of from the engine compartment.

Take a battery out from another vehicle and put it in it. If it still doesnt start then buy another starter.

Problem solved.

My name is Hurst and I approve this message.

When I have that problem its usually a loose battery cable attachment to the battery post. I won't admit it out loud, but I once pulled my motor out of the car because I thought I had cooked a starter when really all I needed to do was tighten that one bolt.

Take a battery cable and jump across + battery to the starter (in neutral of course) see if the starter turns over. Maybe a pain in the ass cause I think those solenoids are on the starter themselves.

No prob. I used to see 4-5 vehicles like that a week when I worked at the stealership.
