Solution of the popping and acceleration problem:
There was a sparkplug wire that the passenger side
header got to leaving a nice burnt hole. As for the
car revving to 2k, we switched out the tps and it
seems to be running fine.

Fuel Filter doesn't make sense to me since it revs fine while not driving, but I would check it. When was the last time it was changed?
