The a/c vac line is cracked or broken. Look at the HVAC tree on the driver side fender near the firewall. It has lines running to, I believe, brake booster, interior HVAC controls, and I think p/s pump?? The a/c one is the middle one I believe. You can buy some hard line for like 10 bucks for 6' I believe from Advance. I just used heatshrink and fused together some lines to make it work.

Or if you have been doing some under dash work, there is a vacuum check valve, or actually a couple of them in and around the heater core box. You might have accidentaly foced it off or it might have come off.

I thought the big plastic ball was for the cruise control assembly?

The one I'm talking about is for the a/c vents. It holds vacuum for the selector switch. I had to replace it on my 88 GT years ago. Took forever to find the problem back then.

It's a vacume line on line for the AC. Most likely on the passenger side firewall right before the line goes into the firewall. But I don't know anything.

Another thing to check is the little one-way valve that's inline somewhere close to the vac tree. If that goes bad it's just like having a vac leak.
