Question Connecting Rods Issue

Hey guys. I was working on the rebuild yesterday, went to take the rods out of the pistons, the inner cylinder that goes through the rod and piston WOULD not come out, I checked the edges on the inside of the rock for a lock, and it does not even look like a lock is in there, could there be something in the inner center area I cannot see? It looks really bad burnt up in the center with grease, could the inner cylinder have burnt to the rod itself? Any ideas?

Its a press on rod. To remove you have to press them out with a shop press. This is if its a stock rod/piston combo, which I am sure that is what you are working with.

Why would you want to take the rods apart from the pistons?
