Default Fair Price to replace Head Gaskets?

So what do you guys think is a fair price (labor only) to replace a set of HG's on a stock 5.0. I have a guy at work that wants me to do a set on his 5.0. We were talking about mine and what I've done and he wants me to do his work even though I was hesitant. He recognizes how meticulous I am about work and is persistent in having me do his set.

Keep in mind I will not just be taking it apart and putting it back together, I will be repainting/cleaning all the parts before reassembly. I will also be replacing any part I feel is needs to be replaced during the process (water pump, t-stat, wires, plugs, cap, etc etc).

So, what do you think I should charge him? For any of you guys who work in a shop, How many book hours does it call for?

$300 is even a good deal compared to what he would pay a franchise shop to do it, or even a local shop for that matter.

I think it is like 8 or 9 labor hours @ 95.00 per lb/hr. Not including parts.

[Dr. Evil voice] One MILLION dollars! [/Dr. Evil voice]

But seriously, it takes about 7 hrs to do it the way you have mentioned. Charge $65 per hour. Just beware of broken bolts. They suck.

$750 sounds reasonably especially if you are going to be cleaning and painting parts. That in itself is going to make it a 2 day project. you should see if just wants to stick a better intake on it while its off as well. Theres a few gt40ps and cobras on sale here for cheap

Might as well touch-up the valves while you have the heads off as well.
