heads will need machine work to get that kinda lift.not enough room for the springs not to coil bind.kits they sell for E7 heads will work on gt40/gt40p heads, but only for .544 lift if i remember right.they will have to machine down the seats where your springs set so you can run a taller spring.that way there is enough room so you don"t have coil bind..600 lift isn"t going to do u much good on them heads even if they are ported.they just don"t flow well at those lift numbers.a cam around .540 lift would be all i would run.just my .02. i have ported tons of these heads, and they like smaller cams that make good mid range power, thats were they are most effective.

I am running mine with a dual .550 spring set up and a Comp Cams XR264, with .512 lift. I did get bigger valve though, 1.94/1.54.
I liked how it ran, even before the Novi. iIt now has 486 rwhp and it has 16 in vac at idle.

500 do you have a link/ part number for the spring set your running ? Did they require machining ?
The cam I'm planing on running is 512 lift but was leaving open the option for 1.7 rockers hense the higher lift #.

I do not think they required machining. But ????
I didn't run 1.7's with the .512. I still have the stock 88 pistons and was leary of it being to close. Plus the springs are only good for .550, so it all was just to close for my taste. Put the 1.6's on it and run the piss out of it.
I got the heads from Tri State Cylinder Head online. At the time they still had new castings, now they are remans, but I think still good peices. They have larger SS valves and upgraded springs. I think they were about $580 delivered to the house.
Look them up online and they can likely provide you any info you need.
Harold,
When I pull this thing apart, I want to talk to you about working over my P heads! I will PM ya.
