Occasional starting issue... Starter solenoid sticking?
Well before I decide to really get into modifying my car, a 95 GTS, I want to make sure it's as problem-free as can be. One issue I've been having is that, occasionally, after turning the car on and off multiple times in a day and in a short period of time (walking into a gas station and coming back out to turn the car on), the car takes awhile to start. It'll turn over, then make an almost clicking/sputtering sound (somewhat hard for me to describe without sounding like a moron
). It's never NOT started, but sometimes it just makes a fuss doing it. I was wondering if this could be the starter solenoid getting stuck, or if it's another issue somewhere else?

Sounds like a solenoid issue. When I had my 86 it would do this occasionally. My backwoods cousins fix was to beat the side of the fender the solenoid was on. Seemed to work pretty well.

A friend of mine used to have a huge 4x4 with a bad starter. Every day he'd have to get under it and smack it with a hammer to start the truck.
I'll have the starter disconnected tomorrow evening while replacing the throwout bearing... Is there any way to visually see if anything's messed up?
I would look into maybe the wires getting too hot also. Just something else to check. If the wire gets too hot it will have too much resistance and not the full 12 volts will go where it needs to go.
And of course make sure the battery is 100% and all your power and ground connections are good, solid, and clean!

Thanks Dave, I'll check it out tomorrow when I'm replacing the TOB. Maybe when I put the thing back in last time doing the clutch, I layed the wires near the headers? Don't know... I'll check it out though, and thanks again for getting me that TOB since the Advance dumbasses couldn't manage it.
Update, incase you see this Dave. When I was doing the TOB I made sure the starter wires had some good distance from the pass. side header, and also cleaned off the battery terminals... So far so good, no starting issues.
Thanks for all the suggestions that night man.
