Default Timing cover seal stuck

My timing cover seal is stuck but good. I'm prying like a mother all the way around it but it is not budging. I'm afraid the cover will crack before the seal comes off. Does anyone know of any "trick" in removing the seal? Thanks.

Use a punch to knock it out from the front.

They are supposed to be hard. I take it you haven't removed the cover from the engine and you're trying to replace the seal while the cover is still in place. It's been 2 days since the post. Have you gotten it off already? ANSWER ME! ANSWER ME NOW BEFORE MY DORITOS GET SOGGY FROM THE CHEESE DIP!

Timing cover was out of the car. I used a center punch and worked my way around the seal from the rear. I did not use a lubricant when I installed the seal six years ago and the seal case galled onto the the timing cover. Note to self: install using a touch of lubricant. Thanks for all of your help.

Damn, talk about "dry running it"

Even a little spit on it would be appreciated!
