What basic things have been checked? Tune-up (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter). Also check the basic TPS and IAC settings. Not being an FI guy..but sounds kinda like o2 sensors if it cleans up when its warm.

all i have done so far is clean the maf and iac will check the plugs and fuel filter tomm.cap and rotor are new,but the plugs wires give me a constant light shock when i put my hand on top of the dist. is that normal.also the shudder doesn't clear up after warm up just the idle problem.

No thats not normal. One of the cables has a bad insulator and is leaking or shorting out.

I would check your plugs also.

When was the last time you gave the car a tune up?

Cap and rotor button, new plugs and new cables should help,.. even if not the the actual cause of the studdering. The fact that your getting zapped indicates to me that the wires have not been replaced in a long while,.. thus this car is in dire need of a tune up.

Do the car some justice and get some good cables. Name brand preferably,.. Not the generic store brand ones. MSD and Mallory make some of the best wires out there. Going to run you about $85 - $100,.. but well worth it and should last a good while before needing to be replaced again. Despite what others suggest. You dont have to spend a fortune on plugs. Motorcraft copper are just fine.

Read you other post...some says cam, but if it was its not gonna smooth out after it warms up. I'd def replace wires if they are leaking current, they shouldnt shock you. Personally I like the Motorsport wires for the money..are there better wire out there of course, do they last a zillion miles no, neither do the $100. With high current ignition systems and daily drivers they along with the high dollar ones will need to be replaced. They are a maintainence item like plugs.

I think he has underlying problems if his cables are in that bad of shape. Possibly neglected vacuum lines, dirty sensors,.. O2's MAF etc.
