Would this look homo?
Just guessing, that the stock Shelby Gt500 hood is aluminum, so it should be damn near perfect, and striping it and polishing it should look good. But up keep might be an issue..
But I do agree that the Dark shadow grey and the lighting really help in that picture, but I also imagine that it is much shinier in person...

I dont think it looks good at all personally. What they do to get it though is strip the paint and then polish the shit out of the bare metal. I cant remember is they put a coat of clear over the top or just use some kind of wax. I saw something on the internet about how they did it to this car.

there would have to be some sort of clear coat or that thing will rust up on ya. i can see it with the orange but i think it will make it stick out way to much. if it was shades of white or grey then yeah i think it would look sharp but i dont think you would be happy with it on yours. but hell if ya find a cheap enough hood to do it do i say go for it and see how it looks and if worse comes to worse then just sell it.

Didn't the Deloreans do this before? Although it wasn't a "chrome" look. It was simply brushed stainless. But it was basicly bare like these are. It didn;t work out so well for them. Plus, if you ever get a ding...You're screwed. Done all over, like the arab's one is done, it looks GREAT. The hood only, looks "ok" on the charcoal grey on a cloudy day. But if it isn't done completely, then it's kinda ......meah.

Yeah i suppose i could always sell it to someone with an s197 if i don't like it. That Cobra looks awesome, there's one around tampa i've seen quite a lot like that. I understand stripping a car like that, there's so many fiberglass ones it's kinda cool to show that it's all metal.
That audi must have been painted chrome as the bumpers and some of the trim is urethane. You could probably clear the hood, just like ford clear coats the polished 18's that come stock on s197's. Problem there is it's not nearly as clear. Could possibly do a clear anodization as well.
