Took a SC 2002 Saleen for a spin on Saturday. Wasnt all that impressed with 365 horse. What was impressive was the way this thing hugged the ground.
I took an on ramp (25mpg) at 85+ and came off it at over 110. The car didnt even flinch.

I love Mustangs and I know how to drive but I would not take one that fast around any corner. They are to twitchy and like to get ass happy for no reason.
The Saleens look sweet but are just to expensive for what they are. I would take a Lightning over the Saleen any day.

Mustangs are quite predictable around corners with the right setup and driver behind the wheel. Saleen puts together a very nice suspension package. Now if they would only put some more power under the hood and NOT jack up the price.

Key word is right set-up.
Saleen has started to price themself out of a affordable range if you ask me. Because you could take a bone stock Stang and make it out-perform the Saleens in every aspect for a lot less money. Granted you would not have all of the body cladding that Saleen has but most of there body kits are over-kill anyway.

About the Saleens power I think that is a very padded
365hp. A while back when I had just my stock mustang w/
s/c I was only putting down 34xrwhp and raced a s/c saleen
the result was me putting no joke about 10-15cars on him.
When I talked to the guy he was a little pissed to say the
least about his roots blower vs. contrifuguel (sp?) I will say
this about the saleen it doubles the amount of ladies you
can get.

yeah-- im not too happy with the saleens speed but that is not why people buy them these days ---it all for show-- anyone with half a brain would just buy a stock gt or cobra and drop the extra $$$$ into that--would look handle and accelerate alot faster---think of a cobra with an extra 10K into it......dayum!

Saleen are generally a bit heavier as well which may explain why you beat that SC. Bigger brakes wheels ground effects spoilers stickers
seats and all those extras do add up to quite a bit of extra weight. Then you have to add in driver skill (or lack of) to the equation.
The only Saleen I would have paid for was the SC-351. That was a sweet car.
Lets hope this new S281-E (or is it X?) can make up for the loss of such a wonderful powerplant.

Also I followed the Salesman with my car when he was giving my wife a ride. I blew its doors in I was behind him at a light hit second as I went around him. Of course the first corner and it would have been all over.
