you got a pilot bearing ? 10 bux at AZ . Quadrant ? sound like you got the rest. I'm assuming you got the fork and throwout bearing with the tranny

not sure but I thought the bell housing bolts were different in length. You can use one but not the other??

Thats pretty much it.

I did the conversion to our 87 GT.

Bought an 86 GT parts car that had a brand new Tremec T5 in it. Paid $600 for the car. Made back the $600 from it and kept the parts I wanted from it.

Need:

3rd pedal assembly quadrant,.. serious pain in the ass to remove the stock automatic quadrant and install the 2 pedals. The car needed a new heater core,.. so took the time while the dash was out to make the 2 pedal install easier,.. it was still a PITA. I used the 86 GT quadrant.

Need a T5 tranny with fox bell housing, shifter, flywheel and clutch.

Will need a new cable. There is a hole in the firewall already there,.. I had to grind on it a little bit in order to fit a stock cable.. borrowed that from the 86 GT also. You will also need the little clip that holds the cable to the tranny and prevents it from slipping out while engaging and dis-engaging the clutch. You can use the stock style,.. or go with an aftermarket cable adjuster at the end of the cable. I have the later on my 93 GT.

Inside the tunnel hole,. you will need to grind or use a cut off wheel on the opening a little bit in order to get at all the shifter bolt holes. Either that,.. or install the shifter while the tranny is tilted down,.. and then raise up into the hole. I removed the Automatic shifter and just inserted the rubber shifter boot within the automatic console hole. They are different,.. but the rubber boot still works the same.

I dont have any before pics. But this is the after pics.

There is a difference in length between the T5 and AOD drive shaft. And honestly,.. I dont remember which one was shorter. It wasnt by much,.. 1 or 2 inches at most,.. but it was enough for me to be concerned and use the 5spd drive shaft out of the 86 GT. I still have the AOD drive shaft if anyone needs one.

The stock speedo cable from the AOD will work with the T5. Its really a very straight forward swap and makes the car much more fun to drive IMO.

It was strange at first driving the car with the manual after driving it for 3 months as an automatic. But Lady Hurst and I both dislike an automatic and really enjoy shifting our own gears,.. even in rush hour traffic. And we are both over 40 yrs old.

I cheated,.. I ground a slot in the hole for the speedo cable to lay in and then secured the clutch cable.

I used the AOD driveshaft on my T5 conversion and never had an issue. And yep, you have to move the speedo cable to the other grommet, and route the clutch cable through the original speedo access hole.

I used these exact instructions, and my AOD-to-T5 swap, came out perfectly.
