Getting the thermostat housing off is not the easiest job in the world on these 302's.

The bolts are hard to get at because of the water pump... you did pretty good getting it back together by yourself. Not bad for a new fox-body owner. lol

its nothing for me to look at an engine sometimes and be able to spot everything to take apart/change/put back together.... but this one had me going after i spotted the bottom bolt for the thermostat housing... thought the socket would fit in between the time chain cover and it didnt so i sat there with 1/2 wrench turning it a quarter turn at a time(probley like everyone else had/have) to do but i got it done

my first GT, i popped the a/c pump and mounting bracket off, bought the shorter belt and shit, and if i went over 4000RPM it would sling the belt off. well after doin it 19 times and replacing 8 belts, i figured out i needed to put the bracket back on, cuz the powersteering pump dont sit level and it runs the belts off. so u can pull it off and get the shorter belt, but leave the bracket on.

its a cost effective way, rather than spending the 100+ bucks for the actual kit.

its was nothing with the thermo housing but the bolts(well the bottom bolt) had to be taken a qaurter turn(probley like everyone else had to) but i thought i could get a socket in but the timing chain cover said otherwise and didnt have a rachet wrench skinny enough to fit into the space but i got it working now

Most people replace the bolt with an Allen style bolt, you can remove the bolt faster the next time.
