hood scope question
how is a forward facing hood scope set up.
also what is the reason for having a reverse scope?
im sure that i will be having a clearence issue seeing that the performer sit's up a little higher then the stock one that was on there, and the space plate is almost twice the size of the egr plate. adding this to the holley 600 and the little triangle POS air cleaner that i have im sure something willbe hitting the hood when closed.
so i was thinking since the chassie itself is just a beater body for the most part and the hood is all dented up i might as well just cut a hole in the hood and put on a cheap little scope.
but how would a forward facing scope work while driving in the rain?
and whats the purpose of it being reversed if its not bringing in air?

No.
Just get a cowl hood that clears the motor components.... hood scoops, especially the old standard Snorkel and the newer aero style belong on real race cars, not hacked up street cars..... it's the Fast and Furious equivalent to a 2 foot tall wing on a Toyota Yaris. Do not do it.
Cowl hood all day, every day.

scope kills the germs that kill bad breath.
however, some people believe that having a forward facing scoop forces air into the induction system (ram air), helping horsepower.
I've always understood the reason for the cowl hood is the forward facing SCOOP has too much turbulence and makes it hard to tune the car, the cool air at the base of the windshield (cowl) is easier to draw into the engine compartment to feed the motor.

i would not want to waste something good on my hood. but who knows i might not even have to worry about things clearing. but if so im just gonna cut a hole and put on a cheap little cowl or scoop.

^^ so the cowl hoods act like a vacume or something?
and i didnt think a foward facing SCOOP would add horsepower, but maybe a bit cooler running temp more then anything.

I have a fondness for bassackwards Capri scoops.
The cowl hoods and rearward facing scoops are able to suck in air because, at speed, there is a low pressure area generated at the base of the windshield which happens to be right where the opening is. Air flows from high pressure to low pressure. Ta Da!! Your underhood area sucks.
