Default 302 wont stay running after reaching operating temp

A buddy of mine just picked up an 87 f-150 with the 302. It ran great for about 2 weeks then started running into some problems. I've got most of them worked out for him except this one has me stumped. It will start right up and run great all the way up to operating temperature then it starts to chug then just shuts down. First thing that I thought of was coil pack. got that changed out along with new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coolant and oil. After all that was done it ran for about 10 minutes after reaching operating temp then just shut down and wouldn't start again until it cooled down. It's not over heating, it's not chuging anymore either it just shuts down now. The next thing I was thinking was maybe coolant temp sensor or some other random temp sensor but, I figured I'd ask here before throwing more money at her. I searched and just coming up with coil pack. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys

Good call Tommy. I almost forgot about that thing. Mine went bad before also.

Basicly, it was poor design on Fords part. They put the thing on the side of the distributor. It is greatly affected by heat. Other than the block and heads, what gets hot? The dizzy of course. Basicly, if it starts going bad, it will do exactly what you are describing. Easy to replace and not too terribly expensive either. ($20 IIRC) I hope that it for you.

Also, the computer won't call it as being bad even if it is.

Fuel pump could also be shuting down once it gets hot.

The engine temp sensor could also keep it from running.

There are so many things it could be.........

What is not working when it wont start? No fuel? No Spark? That would give us a little better idea of why your car won't stay running.

Check the fuel filter and the sock filter in the tank. Could be there's a bunch of crud that stops up the sock and chokes off the fuel. I've seen them choke out and then when it sits a bit, the fuel backflows enough to unclog it and then the process starts over on the restart. It could be just coincidence that it takes the same amount of time to clog up as it takes to get to operating temp and the temp really has nothing to do with the problem.
