Default Header gasket

Any tips? I have Hedman LT's and the driver's side is stating to talk to me. I'm gonna try to tighten the bolts but if I have to replace the gasket is there anything I should know (like if its a complete P.I.T.A!!!) Like I expect, LOL.

Then it's going to be a bitch. Sorry.

If it was on a 95 or older...it would be relativly easy.

Assuming the leak is at the block?

Get an extension, a long extension, and a swivel or three

some people might laugh but get the cheapo aluminum looking header gaskets. notch the holes (cut the bottom out to look like a c)
loosen your headers bolts but don't take them out. carefully drop the gaskets down onto the bolts. tighten. I've done it a million times and it always seems to work unless you have a really warped header.

I have Percys header gaskets on my car. They makes a reusable soft header gasket. Its thick and crushes down nice. You can use them 8-10 times before they have to be replaced.

Or u can try.....
I havn't tried on a 5.0 yet. But a few motorhomes I have worked on in the past. I have thrown the exhaust manifold gasket away and used rearend grease as a "gasket." Just a good bead all the way around the ports on the head. Then crank the engine, DONT rev it, just let it idle and get up to temperature, then retighten the bolts. Works like a charm on the bigblocks....

Thanks for the info, I'm gonna tackle it this weekend. Maybe I can go through the wheel well on some of the bolts! Keeping fingers crossed!
