Question 5.4 liter questions

I have for a long time wanted to put a 5.0 into one of my 240sx's but have never gotten around to it. I am not hugely a ford guy so my questions will probably be dumb so please bare with me. I can get my hands on a 5.4 liter out of a 2000 expedition minus accessories for nothing. What i want to know is first of all i want to stick what ever motor goes in carbed first, will there be an intake etc to make this motor carbed? secondly will i be able to put a t5 or other 5 speed behind this motor? I was reading and seeing that alot of people have been putting these motors in their 4.6 stangs. I am no stranger to bastard motor swaps so the 240 is the small issue i just do not know enough about ford engines, time to do alot of research and hopefully get some good answers from you guys

You'll need to convert it to distributor ignitions as well secondly will i be able to put a t5 or other 5 speed behind this motor? Yes. Lakewood makes a bellhousing that you can mate a T5 to. 5.4 is a VERY TALL motor. Depending on your 240's k-member and mounts you might need a cowl hood like 4-5" high. Either that or you can put some spacers between the K and body. The overall height would be less if you kept it fuel inj. WOuld you be building the bottom end or just putting a stock 5.4 in there. REason I ask is because it has a super long stroke (4.16) so you'll be rpm limited to about 6500. But would be a cool swap.

yes you can carb it. you can look online and find a carbed intake but you have to buy and msd ignition box specific for carbed 5.4's. it all realiyt it would be a better idea to put a 5.0 or 5.8 in it. it will be easier and cheaper more realiable and a better starting point for further upgrades (headc/cam/intake super charger ect...) if your interested i have a 306 with forged pistons, rods and a stock crank for sale pm me if you wanna make a deal (im going from a 5.0 to a stroked 5.8 with a supercharger 393cubes and 15lbs of boost is a wonderful thing)

you can use a t45 transmission behind the 5.4 if you decide to stay with the 5.4 and tranny that bolts to a 4.6 bolts to the 5.4 (t45 and t56 are the 2 that come to mind but i think there are more)

TR3650 works too I believe as long as you have the flywheel and the 11 in clutch to go with it

Sullivan intake is the one you will want to use if you go carbed on a 5.4.
