Default Vortech supercharger kits

So... I am looking around and have a few questions.

I see a basic kit for the 87-93 with 5-6 pounds of boost for just under $2,000. The next kit up is 10 psi for nearly $5,000.

Am I missing something? Also, all the kits I see for the fox-bodies show the head unit where the alternator is. Is there a relocation bracket to put the alt. under the unit? I can't see it in the pics.

Last but not least, why would anybody spend almost two grand to get 320 HP from a stock block @ 5 psi? And why would anyone pay double that and more for an extra 5 psi?

I want a Vortech and keep the spray since I already have that. For 5 G's, a turbo kit looks way more appealing but wouldn't a 5-6 psi supercharger and spray be right around the block limit?

Help a slow brother out....

So the compressor is the "trim"?

I see a T trim, S trim, SI trim.... pretty confusing.

On my Vortech S trim the altenator is relocated under the sc head unit, bracket was included in kit. Depends on how much you are spraying for block limits, I've always heard the limit is around 500hp for stock blocks?

I've heard the same... give or take....

I just want to know if 5 psi is worth $2,000 ... in fact, a better question is why spend 2 grand on heads if I can go Vortech, keep the spray and be faster for the same dollars?

6 psi would make a big diffrence on your motor.i built a engine with the same stuff thats in your motor on another with a vortech and it was a bad bitch on 6psi.never got it to the dyno, but im sure it was up around 400hp.beside,that you can find a good used unit and spend less green stuff.

^ yeah, I'm thinking the same thing. Why spend so much on new heads if I can get this kit brand new for $1,700?

Got it.... here is another question:

On the kit, there seems to be no mass air sensor.

It says it comes with a FMU... does that take the place of the stock ECU for the tune of adding fuel?

I really am in no rush here but if I am gonna spend dollars, I want to get the best bang for the buck.

Heads and cam... or ... keep the spray and go Vortech? Decisions, decisions.

fuel mangment unit.if i remember right it ups the amount of fuel into the injectors.i heard it is better to go with bigger injectors then to fool with those FMU"s.

lol fmu is a pos imo. i bumps up flue pressure with boost . but so will a flue pressure regulator. u can find a used kit cheap but , heads cam and nitrous is a nice set up. the 2000 kit has the smallest compressor you will max it out around 500 whp. now if i spend 2000 i expect to expand as my motor will take it . just my .o2 p.s. heads/ cam is the smart money imo
