question about a thunderbird

i was racing a t-bird last night..pretty tight one with some rims and tires on it...he said it was an 89 v8 did they make a v8 tbird in 89? and if so how much hp did they have?

Yes they did come in v8s and I think they came with 190 to 200hp and 165 to 175 of torque they discontinue them because they had to many probs and its like a concept car type...But thats the new ones not out yet Im just gonna shutup.

It was the same motor as the mustang if I am not mistaken it just didnt have the other go fast goodies the mustang offers.

thats what i thought. i think i saw in some tech artical they said to look to junk yards for the thunderbird for parts for the stang and look for the MarkVII too.

yes most of them had the same 302 that came in the stangs the only difference is the intake---it faces the right instead of the left but i beleive the heads cam bottom end and all that shit was exact i think it even uses the same computer/ mass air components and all that



it is still true today with the 4.6s as well everything is the same except the intake and little fuel system differences but any 4.6l thunderbirs crown-vic motor is the same longblock wise anyway and the newer mark Viiis have the same motor as the cober minus the forged crank but you could change that and wallah !!!!! cobra motor you have!

yeah we only raced to about 70 but it won by about 2 cars. the car sounded like a monster though.
