Default brake question

so im shopping around for parts for my pi swap motor build and i stumble across cobra brake upgrade. so then i start wondering if its worth the money to get it from american muscle or just get all the pieces from a local parts store and piece it all together? now i know that billet brakes are another option but i was wondering if by doing this am i saving a butt load of money or am i looking at future problems and headaches?

Your brakes are fine with what you plan to do obviously, I would go motor work, then worry about trying to slow it down. I peiced together my own M2300K Cobra Big brake kit, and let me tell you, it wasnt cheap. But if you are only doing the fronts, your only talking about 400-500 dollars.

You can put together a used PBR brake set for pretty cheap,.. or find someone like me who has a complete Cobra rotor/hub/spindle/caliper set for sale. Mines not for sale right now,.. I need to clean up the calipers before I can let someone else buy them.

A common price would be $250 for everything. Just bolt it on and go.

But I agree with big dawg,.. do your PI swap first. The difference between non pi and pi hp is 40 - 60 RWHP gain,.. thats a seat of the pants anytime hp gain. I did the swap on my old 96 and can answer any questions you might have. What fits what,.. what parts you will need to complete the swap,.. how to set the timeing,.. what is recommended to replace while its apart and whats not really important. And how to do it cheaper and save time vs buying parts not knowing everything like I did when I did mine.

That s a really good price because rotors alone are almost 150.00, calipers an easy 100.00 at a pick and pull, and thats if you can find a set. And the spindles will set anyone back 125.00. Good price, good deal.

well i was thinking about doing the fronts because its time to change my pads and rotors. now when you do a cobra front only brake upgrade do you have to change anything else other than the caliper, caliper bracket, pads and rotors?
