motor or chassie?
Time to get on the ball....
This is the best statement I've read in a while. Why put all your efforts in building a motor if you chassi can not get the power to the ground.
Well, I look at it like this...If you build the chassis to take 300 hp, and it can hook at 300 hp, then you build a motor that has 450 hp, you will have to redo at least SOME of the chassis to compensate for the additional hp. I would rather build the motor, and then follow with the chassis....but thats just me.
Overbuild the chassis and your future power ups will be easy. If you build a car to run 9.50's then your chassis and roll cage should be built to run 8.50's. You will always want to go faster and over building the chassis is easier the first time. I know plenty of 650 hp cars that get eaten up by 400 hp cars because of the time put into getting the power to the ground. Only makes sense IMO.
and then there are the dyno racers that only care about hp numbers and never race the car.

I'm trying to do my current build this way, because I know where I want to be in the end
Yeah, plus with the dyno queens, somehow is ups your Gee Whiz factor if you are unable to hook up on the dyno. Probably because if you spin, you get to say things like, "Yep, she made 650 to the wheels smokin 'em all the way probably puttin down about 1500 easy".

[fast forward to race track][car runs a 13 .95 with no traction for the first 1/8 mile] "damn engine builder! I'm gonna go get my money back!"

I just say build the motor....Then build the suspension for bear.
