Default Alternator relocating

Awrighty, then...I want to replace the turbo on my car with a T-70. I've got the Vecco stainless steel hotside kit which is supposed to be the same thing as a B&G kit but it looks to me like the turbo flange on the B&G is angled slightly outboard whereas the Vecco is not. T-70's on a B&G seem to be no problem but with the Vecco, now the compressor scroll hits the stock alternator mount so all that alternator crap is going to have to move over or down. Looked at pics of the March setup but that looks like the pivot bolt for the alt. is in the same place...that's gonna hit. The AC compressor is gone and PS is moved up. What are my options here? Is there something out there to move the alt to the AC position and the PS back to stock position (assuming the ps will then clear the crossover pipe) or is there something out there for moving the alt. down...kinda like it is done on the Vortech blower setup?

Dirt, I thing the big divverence between the Vecco and the BG kit is Vecco uses the stupid on-center exhaust housing for the turbo...that should give you MORE room for the alt tho as it moves the turbo out more.

is yours hitting the bracket or the actual alt?

Exactly the Vecco kit is designed to the on center exhaust housing and the B&G is designed for the tangical housing.....

Tony, the Vecco kit is actually a copy of a B&G design that never went into production because it had cracking issues in testing..... There was a big stink on this issue a couple years back on turbomustangs.....

Moroso makes a bracket that will mount the alt on either side of the motor I had this on my old 88 with the turbo..... Link at Jeg's: Moroso 63810 - Moroso Alternator Mount Kits - JEGS

Here's the best 2 pic's I could find from the old car.....

Thanks Frank. I knew those kits were out there but I never could get anything to come up about them on searches. I'll have to find some more pics and info to see if that will solve the problem or not.

I remember the stink. I didn't know anything about that until after I had bought the kit. Oh well.

the stink was over the v-bands

I have a small PA alt. and bracket and it fits fine.

$hawn, the v-band thing was a big PITA but I think he was talking about the stink on Turbomustangs about it being a blatant knockoff of the B&G kit. I thought they were going to break out in a shooting war for a while.

To answer your first question, my original turbo fit just fine. It was a Garrett 68mm. I'm having some oiling problems with it so I'm now trying to bolt up this Master Power T-70 to it. The only problem is that the compressor scroll on the T-70 has a slightly larger diameter than the Garrett and hits on the pivot bolt on the bottom of the alternator...maybe about 1/4 inch or so. I'm just trying to come up with something to move it down a little bit or to the other side. Staying on the passenger side and dropping down about .5-1 inch would probably be best. What turbo are you using on yours?

I remember all the nasty stuff that was said about Vecco a few years back on TM. I think I remember reading that it even fit in the B&G jig!
I have it all mocked up with a 68 garrett now lol. i have plenty of room. again i have the small PA alt and bracket.
probably gonna go to a 76 by the time its running.

Here's a link for Moroso's site: Moroso : Category Display
Just go to the Ford bracket at the bottom of the page and click on the instructions..... The instructions have 6 pic's showing different mounting combinations.....
