What would be needed to make the 88 column work? I have an 86GT that has tilt column that I can cannibalize as a last resort.

Edit:
The ignition switch itself has the same part number from 79 - 93.

Hurst
the actual ignition switch that you replaced and the key switch are the same.

if you put the old column in your newer car make sure to get all the trim that goes around it...its all different.

use the multifunction switch from your car NOT the older one if the column comes with it. the cruise control plugs are different also so it and the horn won't work.

think that's it

Sweet,. thanks alot.

Then this will work.

This car has been converted to carb. I dont think the cruise is gonna work anymoe. I'm not a horn honker,.. the exhaust on this car can easily hit 120+ db,.. so if I need to get someone's attention I think I have that covered. Straight pipes into 3" bullet mufflers with turn downs. The last 2 times I took it out on the street I had a cop pass me each time and then there was 2 in the Hess station parking lot,.. and as I was turning the corner,.. I thought they were gonna come after me.

Behind the ignition switch seems to be where your "target part" is, and this area is fine (OE ignition switch still riveted over it)--- you can have it all, that hidden metal piece and the damaged column which houses it.

Hey Greg,..
Red Vert has one locally here to me with keys and covers. I think I will try to pick that one up tomorrow.

Your in Plant City right? I'm working in Largo till next Tuesday,.. so a bit of a drive. If this doesnt work out I will contact you and see if we can meet up this weekend or something.

Thanks man!

I dont think its supposed to come out. Mine had to break to come out.
I need the whole thing with the part that the key tumblers goes in. Its all one part I think.

I thought you meant just the key cylinder with the tumblers was broken. Yours is no better then mine,. just broke in a different spot. How ever.. in a pinch,. I think yours could be made to work with a screw driver if you had to. I'd prefer to have a functional key. My Saturday night activities have attracted the attention of Hillsborough county's finest on more then one occation,.. and I think they would love to hassle me even more if my car didnt have an ignition key.

Thank you for looking out for me though. I really do appreciate that. Its good that we have a network of spare parts that we can pass around to each other.

I found another mid pipe for shorty headers with stock mounting flanges. I had it stored in the back of the 86. I knew I had one,.. I just forgot where I had it. I know it does no good for the headers you want. But your welcome to have this one for free if you want it. I have no use for it and dont think its worth much more then $20 or so. Not pretty,.. but very functional. In a little better shape then the other mid pipe I gave you. Just this one will work with stock or shorty headers.

I thought maybe you realized the way it could be extracted from the assembly ... hence the offer.

Mid-pipe? We'll take it, thanks Jim!

Remember, we have a new addition to the corral (85GT) and can use goodies like that, always.
