So I've been thinking about going crazy and swapping a 460 in my notch project. Getting all the parts over time isn't a problem as I'm in no rush.
I've just started looking up info on doing the swap so I'm pretty clueless right now.
One thing the car must have is a manual transmission. I've seen a few threads on other boards talking about swapping in a TKO600.
What other manual transmissions are a good choice? It doesn't have to necessarily be a 5 speed.
Other than the engine mounts, oil pan, headers and some work on the trans hump, what else is involved?
I'm not looking to make huge power for the drags, just looking to do something different. I'm not that excited about putting the 302 back in.

I thought you were building a road racer of sorts.a 460 would make it to nose heavy for the turns.

 

That's still in the cards, I'm just looking to do something different I guess. I'm not looking to be competitive with the auto cross or to run in a particular class, just looking to have some fun with the car.

You are in the same situation as me. The TKO600 or a modified toploader with OD is about the only way to go. Or spend the 4G's on a richmond. It sounds like all choices need the trans tunnel cut up to fit.The c6 is sounding better and better eh?

 

This guy did the TKO600 swap, thats what got me thinking about going with the 460.

Mustangs aren't known for their handling prowess. Adding another 150 lbs to the nose won't help overcome that stigma.

But 460 mustangs are sweet. Very easy to work on believe it or not.

 

460tzilla is up on his 460 stuff. He's been runnind them for years. He's knowlegeable on the "easy ways" too
