Default Roller rocker / Valvetrain question

I am going to install pedestal rockers on the stock 351w in my coupe. Do they need guide plates and hardened pushrods? I have them on hand if I do.... some people are telling me pedestal rockers don't need them. I don't care either way just want some imput from you guys.

ive used two sets of pedastal and no guide plates. you dont have to have hardened pushrods, but it wont hurt to run them

I got the guide plates and the hardened rods not knowing. I don't want to f-up the geometry on them if I put on the guide plates. The pushrods are stock length. Its a stock motor with a mild cam and I won't be twisting it past 6k.

Im sure the guide plates are going to mess up the geometry a bit and not allow the valve to open far enough as it without them.

How would you install a guide plate w/o a stud to secure it? If somehow you end up with them under the pedestals and channels then you will likely need a bit longer push rod to make up the distance. If you do use them make sure the hole in them is 5/16 (ped.bolt dia.)not a big hole made for a 3/8 or 7/16 stud, as you'll never get them aligned.

guide plates = hardened pushrods.

pedestal mount aren't designed for them to answer the original question...lol

What heads are on the car? Year? Run hardened pushrods with the guideplates. Guide plates are for screw in stud applications

I know all that..... never messed with stock heads before usually just junk them and slap on victor Jr's or AFR's.
