1. In my car I ran it under the vehicle to the trunk and through the spare tire well. Didn't want to have any wires showing going through the firewall.
2. Never heard of many turbo'd Foci lasting very long. I know the newer Duratecs love it and they have a few really good kits out for it. I did love the S/C'd Zetecs.

@ Joe...As for the power wire... I ran it in the same location that many of the factory wires were running out of. IIRC (been a while; since 2003 to be exact) it was just on the driver's side of the car, up under the dash, back by the pedal assembly. There was a "star" looking grommet that had some OEM wires/cables running through it, and I stuck a coat hanger around my power cable and stuck it out into the engine bay, and then "phished" the power cable in through the hole that way. IIRC it came out underneath the fuse box, which is on the driver's side firewall (in the engine bay).
I had a different type of Airbox than a stock one (several different ones, but whatever), and so I ran the wire on the framerail there with one of those screw in hold-downs (black; looks like a zip tie gimmick; has a single bolt hole and the wire goes through it), and then ran the fuse up underneath the OEM battery cover. Was clean, and no crazy wires showing everywhere.
When I wound up turbocharging the car, I re-routed all the battery and stuff to the trunk, so that was a different story.
As for the turbo... All I can say is you better have deep pockets bro. At least $5k for a GOOD setup, and then maintenance is a bia-bia.
If it were me, I'd throw a Jackson Racing S/C on that bitch with a small shot of spray...
