grounded '65 Falcon
I can't get my '65 falcon to idle and it won't stay cranked up below 2000 rpm....Any suggestions:
First off the 289 has had all top end work done on it:
Pro Comp alum heads (190's)
Edelbrock 600 Carb with electric choke/pressure reg set between 5 and 6.5
Crane Cam (Hydraulic with 1.6 roller rockers)
Holley Contender intake (1500-6000 rpm range)
High flow water pump
High flow fuel pump
Hedman Headers
Stock c4 tranny with B&M Shift Kit
Accel electronic distributor
here's what I have done so far:
checked the idle circuit on the carb by pushing down on the pistons to make sure the spring is ok
replaced the plugs as they were fouled
had the Felpro gaskets changed on the intake as they were the wrong ones and were allowing air to leak in
I have this car posted in the projects for those who want to see what she looks like here she is:

unscrew the idle screw a bit by bit to see if its that, sonuds like a fuel problem to me though, how is it when it starts up? does it struggle? do you have to practically floor it to get enough gas in the carb?
um....? does it sound like a misfire at all? get a video on if at all possible
edit: and try to screw the idle screw in a lot, if you havn't already, could be getting a little too much. Also, I'm assumeing your doing this with the filter off right?

it was misfiring before but that was because of the air leak from the wrong fel pro gasket for the intake....engine shakes below 2000 rpm but again won't idle unless you hold the throttle down off of the carb....the shop I took it to did the initial break in at 2500 RPM for the 20 min time frame to break in the cam but they never took care of the idle because I am assuming I didn't ask....I can kick myself for not allowing them to start it up so I could hear it
My money is on vacum leak OR carb adjustment. Did you check / adjust the float levels?? Being the plugs are fouling I lean more toward the carb. Wouldnt hurt to check the timing. Pull #1, put on TDC and pop of the cap and see were your at.
