Default Car didn't like the 80mm C&L

I got the Novi 2000 install finished on my 88 LX and the thing was running like crap. Missing so bad at part throttle you would have swore all the wires were crossed. I even went so far as to replace the wires, regapped the plugs, swapped out the MSD. Everything I checked out was good. Plugs look good, a little rich, but OK. I got the boost gauge in today and took it out again. Smooths out under throttle, part throttle drivability was in the can. ( got to swap in a larger blower pully or get a meth kit, saw 11 lbs easy, hit 15+ once)

Came home and swapped out the 80mm C&L to a 76 and BAM. The thing idles and runs out damn near perfect. I reused everything from the 80, just swapped out the tube and sensor. I am still going to take it in for a tune, but knew it shouldn"t have been running this bad.

Anybody run into this before? I wanted to use the bigger MAF, it worked great when the car was N/A, but the performance doesn't lie. Couldn't believe this made such a difference, shouldn't be supprised. It is EFI, love it or hate it. there is not much in between.

Some MAF's dont like to work in a 'blow thru' mode.

I have on more than one occasion seen people put the sample tubes in backwards, and that will call all kinds of havoc.
