Default Quick question about head...ers

If I have an off road H pipe and flowmasters out the back and I am looking for headers should I be looking for shorty headers or long tube?

Will my car be louder? How much louder if any? Has anyone here put on headers and did they notice a difference is their acceleration?

Basically tell me anything you know about getting headers for my 03 Mustang GT.

Your gonna want shorties,if you want longtubes you will have to change your h-pipe.It's cool if you want to come in and ask questions and learn, but please leave the drama and shit talking out of Ford Tech.

+1

you have 3 basic options here shorty's, mid lengths, and long tubes.

They all 3 have their advantages and disadvantages just like everything else.

But like 351coupe said unless your gonna use the shorty's your gonna have to spring for a new h pipe.

Mid lengths and long tubes are going to give you more power though.

I can get you some nice long tubes and a mid pipe for less than $500 and then you can sell your midpipe as well. So its not too bad.

If I just went with the shortys do you think my car would get much louder? It is pretty loud already IMO.

Also would I need to get it re-tuned after I put on headers? I dont know if it will mess up the air / fuel ratio or anything like that, will it?

With the shorty's most likely its not gonna get any louder and as the air/fuel you will be fine. It wont effect it.

I just finished installing a set of shorty's on a customers 96 2v and it barely changed the exhaust sound.

And we offer tuning if that is an option you want to take. An efi car will always benefit from a good tune.

If you bolt on after market headers it's going to be loud i might not drive a mustang but any car with after market header will be loud.

didnt you read my last post???? Shortys arent really going to make it much louder. Now long tubes well those will start to make some noise.

Well my car already sounds like this ( link below ).....and I think this is perfect, so I dont want to go too much louder.
