Default 2003 mistang gt 4.6 sohc

Just a question for anyone interested. im wondering what cams would be good for an 03 GT trying to get into the race scene. Or any other suggestions that would help the car gain performance. Looked into throttlebody and plenums. dont know if thats a good investment so any feedback would be appreciated.

Agreed here also. Cams in a 4.6L stock headed motor are somewhat pointless. Now if you take the head and do some port and valve work, well then your talking about actually picking up some good power there.

Honestly the path you should go with is a power added. These motors love em. Tryin to find all motor horsepower with the 4.6L is possible but damn its expensive. Besides your limit on the stock bottem end is only 400 hp before shit wants to start coming apart. So a good shot of the juice or a nice supercharger set up and you will be getting close to that number fast.

Save your money and do the cams when your ready to build and all out nasty ass motor. We have installed plenty of cams in the 4.6L yet the only ones who really seem happy with them are the ones who do a head/cam package....while the people who just did cams with no head work tell me "well it made some more power but for the money I spent to buy the cams and install it just wasnt worth it" Make sense?

The t body and plenium, thats not a bad upgraded there is a little to be had there but not too much.

Forced Induction are these motors friends... to a point...

Any thing other than stock helps.. but it is just minimal gains unless it is forced induction..

Agreed with the F/I! Been that way for 2.5 years and 20k miles on my stock bottom with zero s/c related issues.

blower is the way to go.
stick intake exhaust plenum t/b and a tune and if your lucky u make 260whp witch is like 30 gain from bone stock.
u might c 20-30 to the wheels with just a cam. u cant relly put a good size cam in the 2v without fly cutting the pistons.
so its spend a couple grand buyin all the bolt ons / a nitrous kit and havin them installed or pick up a used pro charged kit for around 2500 bolt it on and make more power.
