Default need some advice

alright due to recent travel opportunities i am trading my civic for a E350 shuttle bus and converting it into somewhat of an rv. the van has the 7.3 diesel motor with 215k miles on it. diesel fuel is around 4$ a gal. right now so i will be putting in the veggie fuel system to save money and less emissions.

my questions are:

is the 7.3 a reliable engine?
is 215k miles considered high for this vehicle?

if you guys have any other advice to offer feel free to post, i am lost when it comes to this stuff. thanks

here is a picture of the shuttle.

I have always had good luck with the 7.3 and they have never given me any issues. The only advise I got when I bought my first truck was, just remember to keep the oil changed and the anti-freeze green! I was told that if the antifreeze is not clean and fresh, it can cause pitting inside the block. That can mean big $$$ when it comes time to fix it....

215K is a fair amount, but I have known the motors got get 350K easy... if they are taken care of.

Miles and condition depends on how it was maintained throughout its life. If it was a private bus, and this was the only one, you can bet it wasnt taken down for service as recommended. If you know the history of maintainence and price is right I wouldnt be afraid of the mileage. Diesels are EXPENSIVE to maintain and repair. G/L HTH

I never had a problem out of my powerstroke, and it was abused daily w/mods. I also kept it serviced regularly
