you are going to have a pain in the ass putting the fuel lines back on after you put the subframe connectors on

the subframes go over the fuel lines I recall. So after you drop them outta the car you are going to have too fish them thru that little hole there you just made when you put the subframes up.

btw the lines are riveted to the body

not on my car..... I actually have the frame mounted already. It is tack welded in place. So there is no problem with the gas lines. I just want to weld onto the frame but the gas line is about 1" from where I want to weld. Therefore I want to move the lines because I am afraid of sparks hitting the line... I would rather have them at least 3-4" away.
<----Ex welder.
I'll do it for you. Those are hard lines. Don't get the arc on the line, and you'll be fine. Basicly, don't put the wire on the line. You'll be fine.
I've welded on a gas tank before and had no problems. Of course, I removed it from the car, and filled it with water before attempting it, but it CAN be done. When the line is full is when it's the least volitile. Gas FUMES are flamable, not the liquid. Whats in the line? Liquid, not vapor (hopefully) Since it's a hard line, the sparks will bounce off and no problem.

you can also put a flame retardent material over the line. i use pieces of leather since we have a bunch laying around

Ok I don't agree with that statement and I am shure there are others here that will agree with me. Mustang chassis are weak and they need that added support. I have seen cars go deep into the 11's with stock fuel lines. Now 11's isn't blazingly fast but its nothing to shake a stick at. Moral of the story is any mustang that races on slicks should have sub frame connectors.
