Default New to the american muscle scene! 79 Thunderchicken

thought i would introduce myself to the ford world. first ford i have owned.

Allright so i am a hard core honda fan at heart but i have grown up with muscle through my family. Im 25 so im not some punk ricer. but i have built from the ground up with the help of the internet and friends 7 honda crx's, 1 mr-2 turbo, 73 monte carlo, 1 lexus es-250, 1 honda rsx, and a civic hatch.

So i am ready to just dediacte my self to the american muscle right now.

I picked up this 79 thunderbird with a 351c and 62000 miles. the black one is what i am aiming for with this one but i plan on throwing a 460v in it and throwing the 351 in a stang mabey. anyways here are the pics:

the future:

Nice barge. You sure it is a cleveland and not a windsor? I thought the Cleveland was killed in the early 70's. I know the 79 cown vics got the 351W

Definately a 351W..... Just look at the valve covers and the water neck at the front of the intake.....

Thanks for visiting the dark sde! I scrap that pull that motor out and scrap that tug boat then you'd have a good chunk of money to buy some american muscle. if you keep it look into some BIG CUBE 460's to get that thing on a plane

Check for the emmissions sticker ,usually on the fan shroud or valvecover and that will tell you what motor is in it. Def not a Clev looks to be a Windsor as stated

I agree with all previous posts. That motor is definatly a 351W, and not a 351C. The only way to make that thing have any "muscle" is to put in a stroked 460. I hope that you have some serious cashola laying around if you want to make that carrier move somewhat quickly. If all you want is something that LOOKS nice and runs decently, then keep the 351w in it. Otherwise, pull the motor and trans, and put them into something else and scrap the barge.

Don't get me wrong, the car is straight and, well...., fairly "clean", but it's no performance car.

Someone died and left that to you right?! you did not buy it? I see no other reason a ricer would fall on this one.

There is a difference also between "pimp" flavor and p-o-n-t-i-a-c sleds.
