I lost 5th gear and reverse awhile back... I'll admit, I shifted like a retard when I tried to hit 5th hard.

1st thru 4th work fine, but I cant even get 5th or reverse to engage.

I heard that I could get a kit to repair the synchros and also heard that I might as well just get another trany. I'm lookin for opinions or ideas on what route I should take.

I have a 96 cobra..t45 trany

You probably broke the 5th/reverse fork.

 

Always be nice to your overdrive gear(s). They are the smallest and can take little abuse.

 

you should buy an 03 cobra, that will fix the problem...

 

Or instead of buying a whole nother car the t56 trans is a direct bolt up for any 4.6L.
