Default Hatch with no key

How would one remove a hatch with no key?
Gave away my parts car, went to pull the hatch off of it at the junkyard...but the key was not there.

It looks like I could unbolt the Torx bolt holding the locking mechanism....unfortunately I had no torx socket with me. Before I drive all the way back to riverview, what is the best way to get this thing off?

Just get a big screw driver and a hammer and break the lock. If done right it wont damage the hatch itself just lock cylinder which is replaceable of course.

Thumbs up Remove lock assy

Look under the hatch, above where the tag goes on the car, you will see a black clip, that has a aluminum rivet holding it in place, take a flathead screwdriver and hammer, pop the head of the rivet off, take the screwdriver and put under the clip and work it out of the slot, after the clip is out, you can remove the lock assy from the hatch, be careful, slowly work the lock assy out with a screwdriver, once the lock assembly is out, you might need a flashlight to look down in the lock assy hole, you will see a slot in the lock mechanism that the lock assy arm rides in, stick the flathead screwdriver in there and turn, the hatch will open right up, also works on notchback and vert decklids. I learned how to do it, from buying wrecked stangs from a salvage auction, alot of times they would be missing the keys, it's really amazing how easy it is to get into the hatch or decklid of one. Good Luck,
Brian
