I can't decide on what to do with my mustang. Should i make it for the drag strip or should I make it to do turns.

The setup I want for drag would be cutting out the truck floor and putting in a 4 link suspension. It would be all box steeled out. I would worry about an enginer later on.



If I did road race i wouldn't know how to set it up as much but I would learn



So what would you do?

The car is a 1987 lx 5.0 hatchback.

 

Man, you gotta do what YOU want, not what everyone else wants.

I personally prefer Drag racing over road racing. I also prefer the option of driving my car on the street over a strictly trailered car too. I'm not knocking road racing setups or trailer only setups, but it's what I like, not what everyone else likes.

So, which do you like better?

Do you like driving for 12/13 seconds at a time or longer? Drag is boring to me, but thats me. I'm going road race/auto cross.

 

you want to build a 4 link set up? Unless you know how to setup a 4 link it can be a nightmare. scales and a protracter the only way to set them up. The stock 4 link in the stang works great. look at all the stangs that go 10,
9's and even 8's on the stock geometry. aftermarket 4 link is overkill.

 

I have set them up before on stock cars before.


I have seen many cars go on the stock geometry.

I am leaning towards drag racing right now.

put the body on a 4wd ranger frame, throw in your 302, and lift and tires, and a snorkel.






but seriously, which do you do more now. drag tracks, or going around in circles? you can build any car really to road race, autox, but it takes a car with balls to make down the end of the track with a decent pass.

 

I vote for turns, and drifting!
