93 Mustang 4-Cyl. - 8-Cyl. Swap?
Ive been thinking about a 90s 4 cylinder car (for insurance) but that is capable of an 8 cylinder swap and came across a Mustang preferebly 91-93. Would this be very hard to get the 5.0 and 5-speed and swap it in? Would everything bolt up right? Thanks!

I guess I will offer my slant since I have had many a hybrid Mustang even before they were really fashonable. For what you want to do there are several ways of doing it.
The 4cyl to V8 swap in a Fox body.
Pros: 4 cyls are usually straight bodies with no unibody damage. A 4cyl coupe is the lightest of all Mustangs at around 2600 lbs off the showroom floor. They are also cheap to buy and even cheaper to insure.
Cons: Alot of effort must be put into the car to make it truely right. The best way to do it is to get a donor v8 or have one at your disposal. It will be invaluable if you are doing it yourself as you can swap over the wiring harness dash harness (optional) computer front brakes (do this it helps out alot) and most importantly the 8.8 rearend with the quadrashocks.
Basically if I were doing this swap I would count on putting in a 155lph fuel pump while it is apart the v8 front spindles and brakes subframe connectors (keep the 4 cyl body straight as an arrow) and full dash wiring harness. And remember when you have the car apart it is the best time to add things like urithane bushings aluminum drive shaft springs shocks and control arms. Whatever anyone says you cannot use the 4cyl tranny or driveshaft for this swap and you will need a double hump cross member. If you need any help feel free to ask me. I have a 1996 v6 to v8 Mustang right now and just built a 1988 LX 4 cyl to 2000 v6 swap for my ex gf. I know my hybrids here
. And yes I pay for v6 insurance still. Save those recipts for what you have in the car and get it appraised.
The other option buy a 89-93 Mustang.
Save the drama and just pay for the car. I dont think it gives you the same satisfaction as driving around a car that you build yourself but it is an option. You will probably only be able to afford to do basic boltons to this car at first and it is harder to find one that is not trashed. I would stay away from high milers and former patrol cars. Look for a low milage coupe and enjoy!
