Anyone out there installed a Tremec in a Cobra or GT? My T-45 is about shot and I was thinking about installing a Tremec. Just trying to get any sticking points out of the way before I tackle that sort of job.

T-5s are usually pretty good.

Craig has a 3550 in his Bullit. He is pretty satisfied with it...as well as hundreds of other Mustang owners. The TKO is a good one too...but it requires a different bellhousing and different drive shaft.

I thought that both the TKO and 3550 need the Lakewood bellhousing to bolt up to the 4.6?? Craig_302 has a 5.0. I think the Tremec just bolts up to the 5.0.

Ill have a complete Tremec TKO with the Lakewood Scattershield and a Steeda Tri-Ax Shifter.

The t-56 is a nice tranny but heavy. If u dont have gobs of hp I would lean toward a tko or a tremec. Personally I like the gear ratios of my stock t-45. The first gear is 3.37 which is higher than the t-53550tko. Yes its weak but cheap to rebuild.

The 3550 and TKO require differant bellhousing......You might want to look into a Tremec T-45 out of a 99+ mustang, they seem to be a bit stronger then the old T-45s
