Default Something broken in my car's rear end.

Maybe somebody here has had this happen..... there are no loud clunking/grinding noises, but there is a very noticeable shifting back and forth when I let off of the gas over 4,000 rpms.

We thought one of the axle tubes may have been twisting inside the diff. housing but we welded a couple of 1" beads around that area on each tube and it still does it.

I had a couple of VERY smart guys looking at it and driving it..Russ, the crewchief for Bryan M. and a long-time fabricator named Jerry. We were hoping the welds would fix it but it's still there. I checked every possible weld for the upper/lower control arms and they were solid.

The only thing left is to yank the whole rearend out to get a better look at the bushings on the uppers/lowers.

This started directly after Wednesday's test and tune night. I know it's something in there but with nothing visible it's hard to tell.

Also, my passenger side rear tire is rubbing badly after that night everytime I make a left turn. Could it be the shocks?

Help me out if you have ideas....thanks y'all.

Thanks... I was thinking the same thing but there is no way to tell for sure without taking them out.

So, I guess it's ok to drive on the street like that until I get it fixed with some solid bushings from UPR.

Yup you probably busted up a bushing. I am pretty shure you checked this but I have seen the bolts back out of the control arms with aftermarket control arms for whatever reason. Hasn't happend to me personally but I have had some customers bring me their cars with the same complaint and they end up with missing an upper or lower control arm bolt. Maybe you lost one of those?

Not calling you stupid its just something I have seen a couple times before now.

Push on the 1/4 panel a few times so the car shakes side to side and see if theres a clunking noise. It'll sound like somethings rolling around in the gas tank. My coupe would make noises when I hit bumps. $hawn said it was the upper control arm bushings. I never got around to fixing it but I can tell you it got worse after the slicks at the track lol

jack the car up and put it on stands under the body. let the rear all the way down as far as the shocks will allow. then go look at how bad the upper bushings are.
