Turbo Carb Setups?!
Carbed turbo cars suck and they're slow.
No, but really. Be a bit more specific. Price? Hell, 4k to well.....as expensive as you want to do it halfway decent.

By the time you buy a $1k carb that still will have issues, you can have a Megasquirt EFI setup if you aren't affraid of technology.
Hey, gaggots - this wasn't an "EFI vs. Carb Debate" thread
... Just questioning the people on here that HAVE Turbo Carb setup(s) on their car(s), and what they've spent, what they've got, and how they like it - etc.
Keep the EFI/Carb debate stuff in those threads

Mine is the second one down on the left side in the above link.
You can get them custom built to your exact specs ( they will ask you questions) for about $850. Dave mentioned "issues" on these expensive carbs I would call it quirkiness more than anything else.
For example I can not smack the throttle all the way down at idle in my car, it will pop back through the carb but it does this because I have set this way to help part and full throttle response. Just check the videos where I had to pedal the car, instant on / off response. I can get rid of this issue, I just have not messed with it much. It is just a change in the squirter's on top, I will do it soon now that it is cooler out.
Other parts you will need will be a carb hat from CSU, the correct fuel pump and regulator ( matched set), Digital 6 ignition box and the correct HEI coil. There are a lot of other misc things you will need too, just can not think of all of them right now.
The reason I went this route is because I watched alot of people make a bunch of power with these set-ups much easier than the EFI equivalent. Not saying it is not possible with the EFI equivalent because I know it is but again I think there are more inherent tuning issues to constantly battle with EFI. Plus any big changes to a EFI motor means new corresponding parts to work with them. ( mass air, throttle bodies, injectors, etc. )
Drive-ability is fine. All the horror stories you are going to and have probably read about carbs generally comes from people that have little or no experience with them, for the most part they are very easy to work with. Of course some of the fine tuning takes more knowledge but the same applies on EFI. My car has had way less " tune" work on it by me or others than a lot of EFI cars I know of.
Seems like computer gremlins are always at work on the EFI cars.
I have put a hundred or so miles on the car since the new motor and about 2,500 miles on the old stock motor with the blow thru, never a problem. They eat gas a lot more than EFI but there is some new technology out on the blow thru's ( I had mine retro-fitted) to help lean the car way out when off the boost to keep fuel consumption and loading plugs to a bare minimum.
Post up here if you have any other specific questions. The fuel system matching and building is vital. I spent a lot of time on this and actually have a thread archived on Turbo Mustangs because I was the first to trouble shoot the fuel system issue many were having. Heck Aeromotive had to change their website a little after it was all done because they were giving the wrong info..
I love it, it is unique, gets a lot of looks when the hood is up, and hauls ass when you hit the go pedal.

C&S or CSU are the two big ones. Everybody I hear from with blowthrough carb setups has problems with 'em. Its just a fact of life. I can't wait to start having problems with my CSU 750.
