Default removal of the unnecessary

I have a 87 5.0 mustang and I am looking of what I can remove like emissions and stuff like that. Things that aren't needed.

Please let me know.

Well, if you convert to carb and strip out all the extras you can definatly do it. A lot of people have carb setups and do that, but the car makes a horrible DD once they do all that.

First step, ditch the smog pump. Either buy a delete kit or a shorter belt for it.

After that, post up your budget and what your goals are and we can suggest anything from ripping the heads and intake off of an Explorer to buying a set of AFR 185s and a MOFOSHOT of Nitrous.

Well budget is as it goes. This car was my daily driver now it is my "project car"

I don't want anything crazy. I just want something with a little power.

Okay, after the smog pump, ditch that clutch fan if you haven't already. Take it completely out and swap in a Mark VIII electric fan - wire it up and enjoy the free horsepower, increased cooling, and less drag up top. Then look for someone selling a used GT40 heads/intake package from an Explorer 5.0 motor. They can be had cheap and give modest gains. I believe the heads are GT40p heads, which require a special set of headers due to a different plug angle of some nonsense - a good set of use headers that will work with GT40ps can also be found cheap and easy. After that, upgrade your throttle body and your exhaust system - since you've already got different headers after the GT40p heads all you'll need is a nice X-pipe to replace that POS stock H-pipe. Get a full-length exhaust with some kind of performance mufflers on it, and don't worry about going larger diameter - 2.5" each pipe is MORE than enough for what you've got.

That will net you a 'little more' power, and you'll still retain 100% driveability, and you won't pay much. Next step is to throw an E or a B-cam in there and listen to it rumble But at that point you start to lose driveability, although only a little bit.

Ok. I want to keep it fuel injected. I noticed when you make it carb it takes a lot of the wires/hoses away.

If you don't want many creature comforts, your going to be able to block off quite a few things. Just don't be silly and block off the FPR line
