I'm now running an "open downpipe" on the '84. Rocking the classic cast iron manifolds which merge into a single 2.25" pipe. No cat, no muffler. Open exhaust baby! Figure if all the Eclipse and SRT-4 guys can do it, then so can I.

But seriously, just when I thought nothing sounded worse than running an open h-pipe on a 5.0l I come to find out the open y-pipe is even more disgusting. On the plus side my neighbors dislike the car even more than before!

Why? Scott and I got about 90% through the removal of the stock exhaust when we were unable to remove the two nuts off the passenger side manifold (fuckers were rounded off and had about 23 years worth of rust on them). Hoping to source the nut size and get this exhaust done sometime shortly. Since the exhaust is coming down and my transmission is hemorraging fluid from every orifice...a rebuild T5 will find its way under there too. Fun times.

Scott...thanks again for the help. In true Alan car project fashion, it took at least twice as long to accomplish anything on any of my cars.

I ran mine open manifolds, yes manifolds, for about a week while I was waiting for my H pipe. The school didn't like that one too much

Well, it was just iron manifolds at that time. Now it's 1 5/8" Mac shortie headers, Summit 2.5" Catless H pipe, mac flow tubes, and Thrust turbo's with turndowns for the moment
