Default Dad (Stangitman) Here ... need advise

We have the 347 in #1 son's 5/speed car ... dyno run was <300rwhp. She was loosing everything around 4000 rpm and was oil wet on driver side plugs.

Fixed the oil problem with 2nd pcv valve and air/fluid seperator.
BTW - this suprisingly also seemed to stabilize the fluttering vacuum readings a bit.

(CHP forged bottom, Edebrock Vic Jr's, Isky Grind type: RR-284/294 hydraulic ... Valve lift int.Ex .544/.573 ... Advance duration int. Ex 284 degrees / 294 degrees, using 24lb injectors, BBK SSI intake and shortie headers/FMaster & dumps)

Three questions: any suggestion on timing, fuel pressure and... (coding/34) should we do EGR delete or simply fix this valve issue? Today plugs are dry, yet look more brown-ish that clean/lean - - - opinions?

Hope to see Dyno Sam again soon and trying to get ready.

Thanks guys!

DID YOU GET AN A/F READING FROM THE DYNO . WAS IT LEAN OR RICH. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET MORE POWER THAN THAT i THINK. i THINK I WOULD ALSO DO A LEAKDOWN TEST TO MAKE SURE YOU CAN GET A TESTER FROM HARBOR FREIGHT i SAW THEM ON SALE 39.00. THIS WOULD TELL YOU IF THERE IS a problem. try timing at 14 with the spout out.fuel pressure at 39 or40 without the vacume connected. and get rid of egr

Since you seam to enjoy the dyno timing and fuel pressure should be set on the dyno. A good start for timing would be 34-38 at 3000 RPM as for fuel pressure I'm not positive but i think 40 would be perfect for that car.

As for the EGR I ran a delete on mine when my first car was F.I.

The plugs sounds nice.

The victor jr's your running are I think i a 220cc intake runner thats a massive head. Find out what your compression is i'll bet its no more then 10:1 Those heads are really for a high compression 331 347 but I hear they work awesome on bigger strokers like 408's. I say you spray that car. You may even pick up some more HP being that you have those Victor Jr's

good luck man and keep us up to date.

Heads are 64cc chamber, 210cc port, 2.05"/1.60" valves ... Probe flat-tops included in CHP botom end kit.

A/F not on Coast printed sheet, rich I believe though. Peaked hp @ 4950rpm and torque @ 3900. Sam re-adjusted FP at Dyno Day ... and of coarse invited me back to see what's up.

So tell me more on EGR delete ... materials and ECM issues.

the heads are perfect for a motor like that, especially with a large cam like that one...intake is deifinitely wayyyyy to small for those heads, the SSI is meant for a basically stock motor, get a perfromer rpm 2 or victor 5.0....i just built a motor like that and it made 424 to the wheels...once you get some things sorted out you may want to consider upping the injectors also...you should be around 42#'s of fuel pressure setting it up with the vacuum off and hooking it back up once set...the motor i did liked 14 degrees of timing on pump gas and we got rid of the egr
