cam question

Default cam question

ok i want to put a z303 cam in my track project mustang 5.0 ....i have ported stock heads and 1.6 roller rockers will i be able to fit it without clearance problems........its a 552 lift.....does anybody know the lobe seperation on this cam?...thanks derek

a Z303 is WAY TOO BIG for a stock headed 302.

well what about the x-cam ....a few performance shops told me i could fit a z-cam in it ...but i keep getting told both yes and no

and what if i fly cut the pistons ....is there anything wrong with doing that?

fly cutting pistons is done because there is not enough room to run the lift of the cam u are going to do..so u fly cut them to make room so u dont send a piston into the valve.

there is nothing wrong with doing it as long as your piston is thick enough to do it.

what has been done to the car? both the x and z are alot of cam for a mild motor.

check motorsport catalog for their cam specs....no matter what cam you install always clay the pistons to see what you have for clearance....or use a dial indicator and checking springs to do the same...........
