SVO Mustang Value
just wondering what these cars are worth? i have been debating between buying an svo, or a 4cyl or just putting all the money into the ssp coupe.
im not looking for a show car, just something to drive back and forth to work that has everything in good working order. thanks again...Luis

I'm a bit biased, but i've seen them go for respectable prices. Depending on where you get them from, they're rare enough to have no ''standard'' predictable value. seen them 2k - 7k, the higher for clean original cars.
Go SVO!
They're fun as hell.
I loved my Xr4ti.
Damn me for selling it.

i've seen them as low as $1000 in running condition. i've also seen them go as high as $8000 for one in immaculate condition. they're not really all that easy to find, so unless you've got a good amount of money, i wouldn't be so picky on one... that is if you have your heart set on an svo.
another option is to try and find a junker svo for a couple hundred buck, and pick up a 2.3 turbo motor... they're everywhere (i've probably gone through about 7 in the last 3 years.). the cheapest motor i've found was $80 and it ran well!
basically all i'm saying is that it can happen, but i wouldn't put too much effort into it unless you really really want an svo.

All an SVO is good for is a V8 swap............lol j/k I would love to get one but it's hard to find one in good shape. From what I have read it's a love/hate relationship and it's better to get one that was well maintained.

You can usually pick up a relatively lower mileage SVO in good running condition (i.e. no rust with complete interior and limited aftermarket modifications) in the $3-5k range.

My take on this one as an SVO owner-
I don't think they're going to appreciate as well as the V8 cars, honestly. If it had been a good bit faster than the V8 cars out of the factory, then things might have been different. Look at the Turbo Trans Am in 1989 (I think). Limited, smaller motor than the flagship model, but definately performed in a way that earned respect. SVOs didn't do the same thing.
I've already noticed that clean (and more stock-ish) 87-93 V8 cars are already starting to really go up! They're not even as old or rare as the SVOs, but I'll bet that their rise in price has something to do with the fact that more people have fond memories of 5.0 cars because EVERYONE had one back in the day. Now more of those people want a nice stocker again for weekends or whatever. There's your demand.
SVOs on the other hand... Fond memories include:
-Having paid a LOT for a 4 banger back in the day
-Limited aftermarket parts
-Probably some service nightmares (did anyone know how to REALLY work on them?)
-Always having to show up the V8 guys...
I couldn't imagine trying to tune one of those back then! We're pretty spoiled now with readily avalable widebands, data loggers, tuners and standalones nowadays. In a way, SVOs are great cars to have now, since the turbo car/tuner market is so healthy.
I have an SVO as a daily driver and I still love it even though it's beat to hell and I've had it for 10 years.

I love any 2.3t cars. I've had so much trouble, but can't bring myself to hate one
I just saw a turbocoupe in need of a headgasket, with clean burgundy leather, 5 spd, decent body, go to the crusher last month. I almost cried. The owner didn't care...
