Put the car on jacks and start the car and lay under it!

JK. I think some shops have a leak detector wand sensor.

I don't know of that first method would work. This thing makes so many stupid little sounds right now it's like a noise factory.

The 2nd one sounds better but expensive..lol

seriously, start the car, get under it with a bucket of soapy water. begine to apply soapy water in joints and around the pipes themselves (incase there is a hole in it) You will see it bubbling if the exhaust is leaking anywhere

you can run seafoam or an injection cleaner thru the intake system, the smoke will seep out of the leaks if there is any, if not it will just exit the exhaust.

Get you a length of heater hose...not braided stainless or you will remove your temporal lobe. Start the beast and hold one end of the hose to your ear and pass the other end all around the suspected joints/spots and then pass it over the unsuspected spots. Trust me, when you go over the leak, you will tell the difference in the sound coming through the hose.

Like those last two the most so far. I actually have a brand new 3/4 inch hose that i had no use for that would work perfect for your method DrDirt.

Thanks for the ideas!

I've also heard that a wooden dowel will work for knocks in engines so you can pinpoint where its coming from???? Dont know if it will work on an exhaust leak though, they dont create a vibration.
