Yea you can kill a tranny in a few miles on a bad adjusted cable.

to a point you will, make sure you also have a new brass bushing instead of the plastic bushing on your tb where the cable pops on. You will notice that there is a clip on the end part of the cable (the side that goes on the tb) and lil ridges on it also. This is were it adjusts. Hard to explain. TB when closed you should have the stud on the cable about 1/8" away from it and then you pull it to it and pop it on the tb. this is just a rule of thumb, correct way is to have tranny shop hook up pressure gauge to the side port on the side of the trans and adjust it this way.
