I am currently starting the 5.4 build for the mustang. I am just trying to figure out if the crank can handle a lot of power. I do not know waht all im gonna do to this I figured I would find out what the cranks max is. Is this crank one of them dang indestructable ones. Please let me know. It is a 5.4 out of a ford truck.

 

Some 5.4's came with a cast crank and other came with a forged one. All the lightnings came with a forged crank and some navigators had forged ones too. As far as power levels they can withstand all the power you throw at it. Al Papito spins his 5.4 to 8500 rpms. -Mark

 

Yeah but doesnt Al have a built motor and heads? I dont think a stock motor will take what Al is throwing at it.

 

Well we are wondering if a cast 5.4 crank can withhold anything pretty much. If we use this crank its gonna be the only stock thing for the motor. Just wondering. I dont wanna put this whole thing together and then run it a few times and crank give.

 

Cast I would keep the power level to probably up to 600rwhp. The forged crank you can turn up the boost. -Mark

karkraft.com...im building twin turbo 5.4...just got 8 bolt take out steel crank for 125.00 delivered...online the cost is 10.00 more ...i got mine thru an ebay auction of karkraft...i plan on making 7-800 hp...crank is supposed to be bullite proff at that level...call walt at realspeed...he is familiar with the 5.4 build....
