Default which diff to go with? eaton vs. auburn

Ok. redoing the rear on the 89 GT...have bought 31 spline axles with c clip eliminators.....which differential is better for a street/strip car eaton or auburn?...will be using the stock 8.8...I am looking anywhere from 350-450 hp...let me know what you fellows think?

Both are good. I have an Auburn in my car with no problems. I'm making more than 450HP.

I think the question is will the auburn hold up to 700-800rwhp with slicks? Well thats my question.

I have 28 spline aurburns in my car and I make more paoer than what you listed.

My car is my sole driver and they hold just fine with the car and the beatings.

Aren't Auburns or Auburn Pro non rebuildable? Eatons I believe are. But if you are going to through any hp at it they all suck. Auto's will prolong the inevitable. But being you have a fox and only going to make 350-450 I'd get a 31 spline T-lock. If you want to rebuild your rear one time get either a spool or a locker. But streetability wont' be as good as other diffs. IMO my locker is the best insurance I've bought. -Mark

I think you have to send it back to auburn to have them rebuilt. They explain it on their site IIRC.
